Senator Elizabeth Warren continues her oversight of Trump administration's COVID-19 response

News Release

United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)

Elizabeth Warren is continuing her oversight of the Trump Administration's COVID-19 response. Close to 190,000 Americans have died, over 6 million cases have been confirmed, and unemployment rates remain at the highest levels in decades. President Donald Trump's failure to lead has allowed the virus to spread and put millions of Americans' lives and livelihoods at risk.

Senators Warren and Smith wrote to President Donald Trump about the failure of his recent Executive Order to address the nation's overreliance on foreign nations for key drug products, and asked that he support their legislation to actually fix this serious problem.

Senators Warren, Brown, Van Hollen, and Menendez opened a probe into the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's failure to alert borrowers to mortgage relief options during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Senator Warren and Representatives Pressley and Lee introduced legislation to confront the public health impacts of structural racism and police brutality. The COVID-19 pandemic is highlighting how centuries of structural racism have created deep disparities in health outcomes: Black and Brown people are nearly three times more likely than white people to contract COVID-19 and one to two times more likely to die from the disease.

TODAY: During today's Senate HELP hearing, Senator Warren will question the U.S. Surgeon General and National Institutes of Health Director on how the Administration will ensure the American people can get a safe, effective vaccine for COVID-19 free of politicization and interference by President Trump.
