News Release

Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate

The Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate has begun the initial process of offering assistance to each tribal member who has suffered an economic loss. These funds are provided through the U.S. Department of Treasury’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) of 2021 (P.L. 117-2); State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.

This program is intended to support efforts to address negative economic impacts on our communities and individual households. All enrolled members who have suffered a negative impact during the pandemic are eligible to apply, documentation of financial need will be included in the application.

The application itself will be offered both on paper and online, the application will be multiple pages long with the need for information about each enrolled member of the household. The application process will be as simplified as possible, so it doesn’t take longer for our members to receive assistance.

Applicants will be asked to provide information about their household, income, social services assistance received, different achievements, and how you have been effected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is important to the documentation process and helps the tribe stay within those American Rescue Plan Act guidelines. Tribal programs involved are preparing and setting up the application process.

Please continue to watch for updates as each step progresses. We will continue to release information regarding the American Rescue Plan Act assistance and how it will affect you, our membership.
