Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema yesterday applauded a $500,000 Department of Justice grant to the Navajo Nation to help fund programs aimed at increasing safety and reducing repeat criminal offenders by increasing job opportunities.

“Today’s funding helps increase job opportunities on the Navajo Nation, increasing the safety and security of Navajo Nation members,” said Sinema

The Navajo Nation Judicial Branch was one of 11 recipients of the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance Adult Reentry and Employment Strategic Planning Program grant. The Adult Reentry and Employment Strategic Planning Program funds the development of strategic plans to increase public safety by reducing recidivism and improving employability in offenders returning to communities from incarceration.
