Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe is pleased to announce an Emergency Food Distribution will be held on Tuesday, Kentenhkó:wa/November 23, 2021 to help Akwesasne families. Working together for the health and well-being of the community, tribal staff and some gracious volunteers will be distributing food items from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 6:00 p.m., or as long as supplies last, at the former-IGA Building located at 850 State Route 37.

The food giveaway will entail more than one dozen stations positioned throughout the former-IGA parking lot where nearly 50 Tribal Staff and volunteers will place food supplies in the trunks of waiting vehicles. There will be no boxes or bags, so individuals are asked to place bins or other containers in their trunks, as well as adhere to the following requirements:

  • Food giveaway for Akwesasne residents only.
  • All traffic must use the main entrance at traffic light.
  • Must wear a mask while picking up and must remain in vehicle.
  • Must respect social distancing and your patience is appreciated.

Food items include, frozen turkey breast and chicken, fresh potatoes, and other non-perishable items.

This Emergency Food Distribution is made possible through the tribal and FEMA partnership. A special Niawenko:wa/Thank you very much to the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, SRMT Office of the Family Advocate, Social Services Division, Community and Family Services Division, Tribal Police Department, Finance, Executive Director’s Office, Office of Emergency Management and Safety, and other tribal staff and volunteers for making this food distribution possible.
