Inexcusable that it has taken this long, says Davids

News Release

Office of Representative Sharice Davids (D-KS-03)

Representative Sharice Davids released the following statement on the distribution of coronavirus relief funds to tribal governments announced yesterday by the U.S. Department of Treasury:

“While I’m glad to see that the Department of Treasury is finally distributing some coronavirus relief funds to tribal governments, it’s inexcusable that it has taken this long. I advocated alongside my colleagues in the Congressional Native American Caucus to secure $8 billion for tribal governments in the CARES Act, which was signed into law over one month ago now. The Treasury Department must administer the remaining funds as quickly as possible to help tribal communities respond to and recover from this pandemic, while also ensuring that the funds go exclusively to tribal governments as Congress intended.”
