One Country statement on September jobs report
One Country Project
One Country Project co-founder Heidi Heitkamp issued the following statement after the release of the September jobs report:
“This weaker than expected jobs report confirms that our economy remains stuck deep in the hole that President Trump dug with his catastrophic mismanagement of COVID-19. We are still 10 million jobs shy of where we were at the outset of the pandemic, including 640,000 in manufacturing alone, and the slowing rate of job growth shows that whatever recovery was in progress is already losing steam,” said One Country Project co-founder Heidi Heitkamp.
“Labor participation rates have also dropped marginally, which does not bode well for rural communities across the country that are struggling on the long road to economic and health recovery. It’s clear that as long as President Trump and congressional Republicans continue to mismanage the crisis and miss opportunities to provide economic relief to hardworking Americans, the road to recovery will be long and winding.”
