In response to the economic impact COVID-19 has had on the livelihoods of many Native Americans, and specifically those who’ve lost jobs and income, the Native American Media Alliance, in partnership with Netflix, announced today it has established the Native Americans in the Entertainment Industry COVID-19 Relief Fund. This initiative will begin distributing grants to eligible Native people in above the line and below the line positions who apply. The aid is intended to help mitigate the impact of continued production stoppages and challenges in the TV and Film industry as a result of the global pandemic. Applications to receive a grant from the fund are open now.

“Native Americans in entertainment have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of productions have been shut down and are slowly beginning to open, but that comes with challenges as many jobs are still not available. Many Native American crew members, assistants, and other workers, who have been living paycheck to paycheck, are struggling to maintain basic living standards and are not able to find work.” Ian Skorodin, Director of Strategy for the Native American Media Alliance, said. “This new program will help our community by providing some relief for those in need.”
