Montana Native Vote Action Fund
Montana Native Vote Action Fund is a local, Native led statewide political action committee that is working to build Native political power across the state. This includes electing Native Americans to state and local office, protecting and expanding access to the ballot, and helping to ensure Native American communities turn out to vote. In a year like any other, Native American candidates from across the state are stepping up to give tribal communities a voice in Helena.
Montana Native Vote Action Fund has endorsed five statewide candidates to go along with seven state legislative candidates. Candidates who are endorsed by Montana Native Vote Action Fund are:
Mike Cooney - Governor
Raph Graybill - Attorney General
Bryce Bennet - Secretary of State
Melissa Romano - Superintendent of Public Instruction
Shane Morigeau - State Auditor
Jonathan Windy Boy - House District 32
Jen Gross - Senate District 25
Donovan Hawk - House District 76
Lisa Pavolck - House District 93
Margie MacDonald - Senate District 26
Barbara Bessette - House District 24
Jade Bahr - House District 50
Montana Native Vote Action Fund Executive Director Marci McLean, a member of the Blackfeet Nation, stated, “We believe these candidates will hold the best interest of our Native communities and families as they serve the people of Montana. This group of leaders will honor tribal sovereignty and ensure that Native Americans have a seat at the table,” McLean said.
Due to the ongoing public health crisis, voters across Montana will primarily be voting by mail. Ballots will be mailed out October 9th and can be either returned or mailed to county/satellite election offices. Anyone wishing to get registered to vote can do so at their local elections office all the way up until Election Day on November 3rd.
