Fort Belknap Indian Community Council

The Fort Belknap Indian Community Council is pleased to announce its endorsement of Governor Steve Bullock’s Senate Campaign. Council President Andrew Werk, Jr. released the following statement:

“Governor Bullock has always been there for Fort Belknap — and for all Native Montanans.”

“Governor Bullock has a long record of working with tribal leaders across Montana to deliver results for Indian Country, and that won’t change in the Senate. With Governor Bullock in Washington, we won’t have to worry whether Native Montanans will have a seat at the table on issues that affect us. Fort Belknap is proud to stand with Governor Bullock.”

Governor Bullock has been a steadfast and consistent partner for the Fort Belknap Indian Community Council, and for tribal nations located within Montana. As Governor, Bullock has worked in consultation with tribal governments to expand access to quality healthcare, preserve and celebrate Native cultures, invest in education opportunities, spur economic development in Indian Country, and pass a comprehensive package of legislation to fight the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women.

He has frequently traveled to Fort Belknap and has hosted annual Tribal Leaders Summits to listen to concerns from tribal communities, and work towards solutions.

During the COVID-19 crisis, Governor Bullock has personally visited Fort Belknap and the six other reservations located within Montana, and worked in close collaboration with tribal leaders to ensure they have the resources they need to stay ahead of this pandemic and keep our communities safe.

“Steve Bullock’s consistent leadership and voice is needed in the United States Senate for the good of all citizens of Montana.”
