Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino recently presented Central Section California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) a check for $4,430 with monies raised at its monthly community breakfast. During the breakfast the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribe and Tachi Palace also presented a $42,000 check to Relay for Life with funds raised from the two entities and its employees.

Athletic competition is an integral part of the high school experience and Central Section California Interscholastic Federation is fosters student growth in values and ethics. Central Section California Interscholastic Federation’s ideal of “Pursuing Victory with Honor” provides the opportunity to dramatically influence the actions of the athletic community.    

A total of $2,215 was raised at the door and Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino and the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribe matched the amount bringing the grand total of the donation to $4,430. Michael Olujic, Tachi Palace General Manager, presented the check to Jeff Cardoza, Executive Director of Central Section California Interscholastic Federation.

“Central Section California Interscholastic Federation encourages children to be involved in education based athletics,” said Cardoza. “There is a lot of data that kids and students involved in extracurricular activities succeed and tend to do better in high school. We govern playoffs, and transfer eligibility, and conduct other activities in our section that covers from the central coast, the high desert, and up to Chowchilla, encompassing 123 high schools.”

lso during the breakfast, the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribe and Tachi Palace presented $42,000 to Relay for Life. The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life assists Kings/Tulare County residents by providing free local patient services. 

“Last year Tachi Palace reached a lifetime fundraising amount of over $550,000 for Relay for Life. This year, with the tribe raising $5,200, a Tachi Palace sponsorship of $5,000, along with associates raising over $30,000, the total is $42,000,” said Charlene Cardoza, Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino Relay for Life Leader. “We are fundraising until Mother’s Day and our goal is to reach a grand total of $600,000 in donations.” 

Tachi Palace hosts a monthly community breakfast that features a breakfast buffet, informative community news and business networking, as well as raffle prizes. Attendees are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $5 to attend the breakfast. All contributions benefit a featured organization. The next community breakfast will be held on Friday, May 31, and will benefit Reestablishing Stratford.
