Haisla Hip Hop artists Snotty Nose Rez Kids release powerful 'Warriors' video
Based out of Vancouver, BC. and hailing from the Haisla Nation / Rez in Kitimaat Village in northern British Columbia, the indigenous hip-hop group Snotty Nose Rez Kids have recently released their latest video ‘Warriors.’
In addition to the release of the video, the group also signed with RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) Records in June. RPM Records — the leading Indigenous music label in Canada — lauds the group for their fearless lyrics and unflinching perspectives.
SNRK have taken the hip-hop scene by storm. Their music is politically charged and emotionally driven while also being upbeat, energetic and uplifting and they released two full-length albums in 2017: their debut self-titled album in January and their second album, The Average Savage, in September.
Known for their undeniably catchy flows, lyricism, humour, and crowd-rocking live shows, SNRK are rising stars in the world of Indigenous hip-hop and will release their anticipated third album, Rez Bangers & Koolapops, this fall on RPM Records.
According to the RPM website, Snotty Nose Rez Kids have performed more than 44 shows in 2017, 24 as headliners and 16 for community and youth initiatives including performances at the Drum is Calling, Blessed Coast and Koksilah music festivals.
In 2018, they performed at a sold out A Tribe Called Red show and opened for E-40 at festivals such as 420 Vancouver. They have an upcoming international debut later this summer.
The Warriors video
In the midst of the Canadian federal government set to buy the Trans Mountain oil pipeline from Kinder Morgan, the Snotty Nose Rez Kids, with rappers Young D and Yung Trybez, have released a hip hop message with a chill flow that delivers a poignant message to indigenous resistance.
They also make a play on words in alignment with the 1979 cult-classic Warriors.
