Crow Tribal Chairman Alvin Not Afraid, Jr. was met with praise and applause while speaking at a GOP rally held Monday afternoon in Montana. In attendance was Vice President Mike Pence, who headlined the event.

“Today I stand before you to endorse, as well as support, President Trump, Vice President Pence,” Not Afraid, Jr. said before also endorsing other Republican candidates in Montana.

Those endorsements included U.S. Senator Steven Daines who faces a November challenge from Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock; current Montana U.S. House Rep. Greg Gianforte, a Republican running for governor; and state auditor Matt Rosendale, a candidate for the U.S. House.

Not Afraid, Jr. began his roughly four-minute remarks with an honor song sang by two others who joined him on stage. The trio also offered Pence a buffalo robe.

“I’ll tell you, on the President’s behalf, we couldn’t be more grateful to receive the endorsement today of the Crow Tribe of Montana for four more years in the White House,” Pence said in his opening remarks. “Thank you to the Crow Nation for that honor.”

Candidates including Daines took to Twitter to share photos and reactions from the event.

“An absolute honor to be endorsed by the Crow Tribe and to stand with @VP as he and @realDonaldTrump receive the Crow’s endorsement as well,” Daines wrote.

“The Crow, since the early 1800s have always been an ally to the government,” Not Afraid, Jr. said. “From the Battle of Little Bighorn, World War II, Vietnam, and I, myself in the Marine Corp just after Desert Storm.”

He added the Trump administration has helped the Crow Tribe in amending the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance which allowed them to permit their own mineral resources.

The chairman also said he’s worked with the other candidates in various capacities including through Congressional hearings he’s testified at.

Not Afraid, Jr. could not be reached for comment. He finished his remarks giving a final round of endorsements.

“I thank you all for this opportunity. Go Trump. Go Pence,” Not Afraid, Jr. ended saying. “Daines, Rosendale and Gianforte.”

So is Not Afraid, Jr., endorsing Trump for himself or is he speaking for the Crow Nation in general? From Not Afraid, Jr.'s, comments and Pence's comments, it sounds like the latter.

As you read this, know that this is NOT about endorsing one candidate from another, it is about comparing leadership quality. trump (45thUS president) will and does protect “his people”—above all else. And with the latest example of 45’s declaring a 1776commission to promote ‘patriotic education”—thereby Protecting his own from facing historical fact. It is absolutely alarming to see leaders of other Nations choose to disregard and discard their own people’s—their own family's—historic past and current brutalization by honoring, endorsing and standing right beside the oppressor. Do they not realize the whole world is watching and these betrayals from the leaders of Nations will go down in history?
Absolutely Frightening!

I read About Happenings like this in the
Encyclopedia of Native American wars and warfare
where Chiefs would speak sometimes without everybody in the tribe agreeing...
But How can One be Allies with a Government like this one.... ??

This is basically betrayal of your own people as 45 regular disrespects tribal sovereignty, disregards the environment, water rights etc. all the things we hold near and dear! He is all about himself and believes he deserves a third time!!! How can a tribal leader ruin his rep for that???

I'm guessing individual members of the Crow Nation will make up their own minds who to support and vote for!

This is heartbreaking 💔 to me. Nothing good will come of this. Drumpf, (his real family name) loathes Native American Indians and if he wins in 2020 he will gather us all up and imprison us. He is just walking in Hitler’s boots......

This is discouraging news. I'm concerned that trump administration has neglected responding to the COVID crises on Reservations; holding back funding and PPE. His administration is NOT friends of Indians and other non white communities. Why is the COVID VACCINE offered to Reservation Indians for trial experiments?

This is another case of an elder making promises for his people without asking their opinion. ARE YOU CRAZY? After all the pipeline,Covid19 ,etc. Trump would or will take everything we've fought for . Not Afraid Jr. Was there a bribe? Maybe an extra blanket or some sugar and coffee. Shame ,shame ,shame.

Finally! A tribal leader who isn't blinded by the hatred and corrupt media. I commend this action and agree with him. I wish more of our leaders would follow suit. I'm sick and tired of people bashing our POTUS. They fail to see what he does for all of us. Trump is the best President we've ever had and he gets things done. He gets no credit at all, so thank you Chairman for doing this.

I do not understand Natives blindly giving the Democratic Party a free pass. Obama/Biden did nothing for us in 8 years of holding the highest office in the land. If you hate the government, you have to hate both sides.
