Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful and beautiful moms out there, this day is for you!
Growing up, I was fortunate to have a number of mother figures in my life. From my grandma to aunts to moms of my friend’s, I’ve been blessed to know so many strong and great women. I want to give a shoutout to my sister, who will be a new mom soon, can’t wait to see all the joy that motherhood brings. Some at Indian Country Today wrote essays to their mother’s but I took a different approach.
Mom, I hope you enjoy this, I love you and can’t wait to see you soon!
To my mom, Joni,
For as long as I can remember, you’ve always been there
Since day one, showering me with love, kindness and care.
In my eyes, you are a superhero, there’s nothing you can’t do
The best mom there is, this I know is true.
Your love knows no bounds, you never missed a game
Didn’t matter if it was sunshine or snow, sleet or rain.
Raising all us kids is no easy feat
When it comes to you, no moms compete.
Your laugh is infectious, a smile that lights up a room
With you around, there’s no doom and gloom.
As your oldest, I know I’m your favorite
It’s our secret though, you don’t have to share it.
So on this day that is all yours
From the bottom of my heart, all my love pours.
There are not enough words to describe my love for you
I love you to the moon and back, to the sun and moon too.
I wrote this to make you feel special,
I hope a poem was the right vessel.
To my mom, J-O, my Mother Dear,
Cheers to you having the best Mother’s Day this year!
Love, love, love, your (favorite) son
