Northern State University’s Department of Languages, Literature, and Communication Studies is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position to begin August 2022.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a PhD in English. ABDs with a completion date prior to August 8, 2022 will be considered. Specializations in one or more of the following areas is required: American literature post-1865, comparative literature, Native American literature. Experience teaching undergraduate composition courses is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach courses in their area(s) of specialization as well as undergraduate composition courses (Composition I and II); actively engage in research and scholarly activity; mentor undergraduate students in research and career readiness; provide service to the department, the university, and the wider community; and support student recruitment and retention efforts.
