Adjunct Professor – The Indian University of North America of Crazy Horse Memorial
The Indian University of North America of Crazy Horse Memorial and South Dakota State University are currently seeking qualified applicants for an Adjunct Professor in Natural Resource Management. The Adjunct Professor teaches two undergraduate courses during the fall Wizipan program with a focus in both American Indian Studies and Environmental Science perspectives. The Adjunct Professor will teach:
· Natural Resource Management 110 – Faculty will design and deliver a course that focuses in an ecological approach to conservation and sustainability. Instruction should include human’s past and present impact on world environments; and wise use of natural resources, including soil, water, air, forests, rangelands, energy, wildlife, and fisheries.
· Natural Resource Management 498 – Faculty will serve as lead instructor and negotiate student independent or group research problems or projects.
Instruction for both courses will include field trips, mentorship, group discussions, and collaborative inquiry projects. Along with instruction, the Natural Resource Management Adjunct Professor will coordinate with University faculty and staff to develop and plan extra-curricular programming that compliments the Wizipan curriculum, and emphasizes innovated, interdisciplinary, hands-on learning. Candidates must have two years of teaching experience at the collegiate level and the ability to be approved as an adjunct faculty member with our partner university, South Dakota State University. A Master’s of Science is required. Preference is given to qualified applicants who are an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. Competitive adjunct salary, and lodging and food provided.
