Yuba supervisors recognize tribe

Yuba County supervisors gave delayed recognition to an Indian tribe Tuesday, but only after checking with the tribe seeking to build a casino near the Sleep Train Amphitheatre. On a 5-0 vote, the board acknowledged the Tsi-akim Maidu Tribe, which was centered in the foothills of Yuba, Nevada and Plumas counties but lost federal recognition in the 1960s without notice.
