Wyoming tribe breaks ground on hotel

RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) – A new multi-story hotel is expected to help attract more gamblers to the Wind River Casino.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Aug. 17 for the first major expansion at the casino since it opened in May 2008.

The Wind River Hotel will initially feature 66 guest rooms and three suites. The hotel plans also accommodate possible expansion by 24 additional rooms.

Casino General Manager Jim Conrad says the hotel will mean 60 new jobs and help attract guests from outside of West Central Wyoming.

The Northern Arapaho Tribe owns and operates three casinos on the Wind River Indian Reservation, offering Las Vegas style gaming.
