Winners selected in Creek Casino's Sound Star Search

ATMORE, Ala. - Creek Casino in Atmore selected the winner of the Sound Star Search 2008 singing competition March 1. Twelve contestants competed to win the $5,000 grand prize each week during the two months.

These contestants were evaluated on singing talent, presentation and performance. The semifinalist competition was held Feb. 29. The three semifinalists were Kristen Gronewold from Pensacola, Fla.; Dewayne ''Dew'' Pendleton from Jay, Fla.; and Kelton French from Molino, Fla. Gronewold was announced as the third place winner of $1,000 and eliminated from the final competition.

The grand finale for the winner of the Sound Star Search 2008 was held March 1. The final two contestants sang 10 different songs of their choice. French was named the second place winner of $2,000. Pendleton was named the winner and received the $5,000 grand prize.
