The tribe, in Douglas County, Nev., is getting into the gas station business. The tribe's economic development agency bought a service station complex in bankruptcy court for $1.785 million. Kurt Weissheimer, director of Washoe Development Enterprises, said the tribe and a fuel distributor were the only two bidders in a federal bankruptcy court auction in Reno. The tribe purchased a one-acre parcel with the North County service station, car wash and convenience store on the west side of U.S. 395 on Mica Drive south of Carson City. The former Chevron station has been closed since January. Weissheimer said he hopes the station will reopen within a month, operated by members of the Washoe Tribe. He said he wasn't sure what fuel would be sold.
