Though not everyone celebrates Christmas, it is hard to find folks who don’t love a good tune. And, as Mr. Yazzie, a.k.a. Santa, notes about his rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” it’s all about language preservation.

Over the past few years, Indian Country Today Media Network has compiled a few lists of carols translated into Native languages. Here, to celebrate the season and give voice to some of the music in our hearts, is a compilation of our compilations: four sets of Christmas tunes in Cree, Ojibwe, Cherokee, Arapaho and more. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!
