The Oneida Indian Nation hosts nearly 500 military veterans and those currently serving from across Central New York at its 12th annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony Saturday, November 3. Keynote speaker for the event is New York Air National Guard Colonel Dawne L. Deskins, Commander of the Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) in Rome, NY. Col. Deskins plans to discuss the role of EADS and the Central New York military response to the September 11, 2001 attacks in her address.

As First Allies of the United States during the Revolutionary War, the Oneida Nation finds it important to remember and honor all of those who have served and are now serving in the armed forces in this lead-up to Veterans Day.

The Oneida Nation’s 12th annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony and breakfast is open to invited individuals and groups. It runs 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center in Verona, New York. Col. Deskins is expected to speak at 9:45 a.m.
