While most of the billions of dollars wagered on the Super Bowl this year favor a New York Giants’ victory, Vegas bookmakers are pulling for the New England Patriots to take home the winning title.
That's because the majority of the Nevada gambling community backs the Giants, reported Reuters. About 65 precent of the money bet so far in MGM Resorts International casinos was for the Giants. The casino chain operates 10 sports books on the Las Vegas Strip.
That said, some sports bookies predicted a significant portion of the remaining bets may support the Patriots, and thus could change which team the casinos want to win.
"If that comes in it's going to balance this thing out a little bit," said Jay Kornegay, vice president of race and sports book operations for the LVH SuperBook, to Reuters. "Or we might not see that, so in that case, yeah, most of the sports books are going to need the Patriots."
