Turkish Officials to Promote Business Relationships with Indian Tribes at RES

The first foreign delegates will participate at this year's Reservation Economic Summit and American Indian Business? Trade Fair held March 14-17 in Las Vegas.

Cemalettin Damlaci, the Turkish deputy state minister for foreign trade,? will lead five Turkish government officials to the conference on a ?relationship-building trip facilitated by the Turkish Coalition of? America (TCA), states a TCA news release. Along with U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, Damlaci will deliver a keynote address on March 15.

As a representative of Turkish State ?Minister for Foreign Trade Zafer Caglayan, Damlaci will stress "d?establishing commercial relations between Turkey and Indian Country," according to the release.

In a March 17 panel with TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy?and and tribal leaders, Damlaci will discuss American Indians exporting goods and services overseas to attract foreign investment to tribal lands.

Since 2009, the TCA has led initiatives to form ties between American Indian tribes and Turkey, including organizing and leading the November 2010 Native ?American Business Cooperation Trip, attracting representatives of 17 American Indian tribes to Turkey. Representatives from the Turkish business community will also participate in the conference, including the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters? Association, the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen's ?Association, defense company STM, and leather manufacturer Cem Kerem.
