The Georgia Swarm announced Tuesday that Buffalo Bandits forward Jerome Thompson will be joining the Georgia Swarm and reunite with his younger brothers, Lyle and Miles Thompson, on the NLL Lacrosse team.
“It’s very exciting; this is something we’ve looked forward to doing our whole lives,” said Jerome in a media release.
The famous Thompson family from the Onondaga Nation in New York, have been prolific in the world of lacrosse.
Jerome also played with Swarm forwards Johnny Powless and Randy Staats during junior ball with the Six Nations Arrows. In addition, the Thompson brothers all played together with Powless and Staats this past summer on the Iroquois Nationals team that earned silver in the 2015 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships.
During his time with the Buffalo Bandits in 2015 and 2016, Jerome Thompson posted a total of 29 points to include four goals against the Swarm.
John Arlotta, Swarm owner and general manager said,”Jerome has played some great games against us in the past and we’re happy to now have him on the Swarm team.”
Thus far in 2016, he has five assists in two games. During his rookie season in 2015, he posted 24 points with 10 goals and 14 assists and collected 35 loose balls. Thompson tallied a career-high four goals against the Swarm in 2015.
Thompson will wear No. 22 for the Swarm.
