Tribes get $12 million each to build new jails

The state of corrections on two Indian reservations is set to improve, thanks to federal stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Justice. The Chippewa Cree Tribe and the Fort Peck Tribes have received about $12 million each to build new jails. The money is part of more than $236 million in stimulus funds the Justice Department recently awarded to address public safety on reservations throughout the nation.
