Authorities from Columbia County and the state of Oregon, as well as representatives from Native American tribes, joined forces on Friday, Oct. 5, to investigate reported looting and other disturbance to a protected Indian site outside of Scappoose. While the exact location of the old Indian village is being kept a secret, most longtime residents are aware that Chinook Tribe villages lined the Columbia River and environs throughout the region.
