Tribal Corps helps build sustainable home in South Dakota

The AmeriCorps Hoopa Tribal Civilian Community Corps traveled for four days and spent two weeks helping a Sioux family get a new home in South Dakota. The eight-person team helped the Nature's Compassion group from July 13 to 26 to build an Eco-Dome, or earthen home, on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation using sand bags, barbed wire and the area's earth, said Viola Long, project manager for TCCC.
