Thirteen employees at the Four Bears Casino and Lodge have been fired for receiving unauthorized pay advances. Interim general manager Spencer Wilkinson Jr. said the workers will be given an opportunity to be hired back in different positions if they repay what they owe within 30 days. The Three Affiliated Tribes has said the amount involved was about $212,000. Wilkinson said the employees also can appeal to an independent hearing officer, and then tribal court. "The decision to terminate all of the employees was difficult, but given the nature of the violation of our policies, we feel we had no choice," he said. The employees were suspended in November while an internal investigation was done. Tribal officials have said the alleged offenses were not criminal in nature.
