Tex Hall will lead NCAI

Tex Hall, chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes of North Dakota, was elected president of the National Congress of American Indians. Hall defeated Brian Wallace of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada.

Hall vowed to advocate for the tribes to make sure there is a consultation process when it comes to the trust issue and severely questions the decision to create a separate office for handling the trust accounts.

Ron Allen, Jamestown S'Klallam, two-term president and one-term first vice-president and a two-term treasurer was defeated by Joe Garcia, San Carlos Apache, for the first vice-president's position.
