The U.S. Supreme Court will not intervene in a cigarette tax dispute involving Cayuga and Seneca counties and the Cayuga Indian Nation of New York. Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann said he was notified Monday that the U.S. Supreme Court decided not to review the state Court of Appeals’ 4-3 decision that prohibits the counties from prosecuting the tribe for possessing and selling untaxed cigarettes.
