Statement from Mathew Coon Come, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations

The National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Matthew Coon Come expressed his sense of horror at the events which occurred Sept. 11 in New York and Washington, D.C. On behalf of all First Nations citizens in Canada and his family, he extended 'heartfelt condolences to families of the victims.'

'Violence under any circumstances is unacceptable. When it is conducted in a manner that displays such wanton disregard for human life, then it must be condemned unconditionally.'
