State, tribe amend FireKeepers gaming compact

The American Indian tribe that owns the FireKeepers Casino near Battle Creek has agreed to an amended gambling compact with the state of Michigan. Gov. Jennifer Granholm announced the change Monday. It affects the revenue-sharing agreement between the state and the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians, which opened the casino Aug. 5 in Calhoun County's Emmett Township.
