The cool temperatures didn’t stop the Squaxin Island Tribe Jan. 1 as it held its 2nd Annual Squaxin Community Salish Sea Plunge. Eighteen swimmers, the oldest being 61, took the plunge off Arcadia Boat Ramp in Shelton, Wash., where the water temperature of Pickering Passage was 38 degrees Farenheit and the air temperature was 48 F. Non-perishable food items were collected for the Squaxin Island Food Bank.
