Senate panel sets hearing on Indian land trusts

The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs is scheduled to hold a hearing tomorrow to examine the authority of the executive branch to take land into trust for Indian tribes. The right was called into question after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in February that the Department of the Interior could not hold land in trust for tribes recognized by the federal government after 1934.
