Scene & Heard - Honors: Tribe celebrates its culture, ties to Bethabara

Uninvited guests crashed the opening ceremonies of the Strong Sun Powwow at Historic Bethabara Park Friday afternoon. This year, the June bugs arrived along with a record crowd for the first day of a three-day gathering sponsored by the Nuluti Equani Ehi tribe (translated "Near River Dwellers"). The harmless insects buzzed and dive-bombed, adding to the excitement of the Children's Day of storytelling, dancing, drumming, singing and games.
