Revenues at Indian casinos across the country increased slightly to $26.8 billion in 2008, but the slumping economy and political roadblocks for tribes began to take a toll on the industry's growth, according to a study released today. Alan Meister, an economist with Nathan Associates Inc. and the author of the Indian Gaming Industry Report, said the 1.5 percent gain from the previous year is the smallest increase since tribes were given the right to open gambling halls on reservation land in 1988.
