Every fall for the past 20 years, members of Simpcw First Nation (formerly North Thompson Indian Band) have quietly traveled in relays from Tete Jaune Cache to Louis Creek in their annual Salmon Run. For the first few years they literally ran the distance. More recently they have used bicycles. Always, the person running or cycling has carried an eagle’s feather. Purpose of the Salmon Run has been to remind the young members of the tribe as well as local residents that this is Simpcw First Nation’s traditional territory.
