WASHINGTON, D.C. ? In the Congressional Record of debate on the national Laboratories Partnership Act of 2001, a component of the Energy Bill, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., made remarks that the plans to drill in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) will fall to bipartisan opposition.
"There are not 60 votes," said Reid. "In fact, I think there would be a real struggle for them to get 50 votes because the ANWR issue will be defeated on a bipartisan basis."
In a related story, Indian Country Today will be featuring an in-depth article covering ANWR by Southwest Bureau Chief Valerie Taliman in its April 17th print edition.
