A former Red Cliff tribal judge was sentenced to 20 years in prison Nov. 26 on accusations of having sexual contact with a child. Floyd W. Hipsher, 46, of the town of Bayfield had been out on bail, but was taken into custody following the sentencing by Circuit Judge Robert Eaton. A Bayfield County jury found the logger guilty last month of having repeated sexual contact with the girl. District Attorney J.B. Van Hollen said the contact took place when the girl was 12 to 15 years old. Hipsher could have been sentenced to up to 65 years in prison.
