Skateboarding, still frowned upon in some communities, has inspired and influenced American Indian and Native Hawaiian communities to lead healthy and positive lifestyles since the 1960s. "Ramp It Up: Skateboard Culture in Native America", an exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., on view through Sept. 13, focuses on what has become a popular activity in Native communities.
