Quechan tribal lands will have much improved sanitation and drinking water, due to a federal grant, tribal officials say. A total of nearly $1.2 million in federal funds was recently awarded to the tribe to upgrade wastewater and drinking water systems that have deteriorated from use or from the extreme heat that stresses system pipes, said Bill Hirt, water and sewer project coordinator for the Quechan tribe.
