Needing some pow wow action this weekend? Well then we've got you covered. You can check out our pow wow listings and see what's happening around you. Here's a snippet of a few choice pow wows we're highlighting this week.

All of us here at Indian Country Today Media Network are huge pow wows fans. We’ve put a list together of great powwow’s happening all over the country this weekend just for you! If one of these are in your area, head on over and enjoy some thrilling dances, lively musical performances, and, of course, delicious traditional foods.

18th Annual Social Pow Wow

When & Where: February 25th in Phoenix, Arizona

Saturday’s events will kick off at 10am with a gourd dance. The day will be filled with gourd dances, 50/50 raffles, Native American foods, and crafts. Your MC will be Paul Rock Krech. For more information about this event, click here.

2012 MultiTribal Gathering, Alaska

When & Where: February 25th at the Fur Rondy Headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Gathering will begin at noon on Saturday. According to their site, “This is a family and youth event with fun and learning for all. A unique opportunity to learn more about Alaska Native culture, and integral part of Alaska.” For more information, click here.

Mascoutin Society Winter Social Dance, Illinois

When & Where: February 25th at the Lyonsville Congregational Church in Indian Head Park, Illinois.

Beginning at 4pm on Saturday, the Mascoutin Society Winter Social Dance will be filled with intertribal dancing, 50/50 raffles, a cake walk, and a couple’s potato dance contest. Invited drums will include Canyon Singers, Chicago Association, Tha Tribe, and White Hawk. For more information about this event, click here.

Ira H. Hayes Veteran’s Pow Wow 2012, Arizona

When & Where: February 24th – 25th at the Sacaton Middle School Gym in Sacaton, Arizona.

The Ira H. Hayes Pow Wow will be a weekend long event to honor all past and present veterans. Your Master of Ceremonies will be Chuck Benson. For more information about this event, click here.

NYA Presidential Pow Wow, Washington D.C.

When & Where: February 24th – 25th at the Upper Senate Park in Washington D.C.

According to the Native Youth Alliance website, this weekends powwow “is an exercise of our First Amendment rights, which include freedom of religion and freedom of speech. At this time we will talk and pray about issues—such as the banning of our literature, the suspension of our youth for speaking their language, the protection of our environment and the perpetuation of our traditions—in a traditional way. Traditional Native Americans are the only religious group that has no place of worship in the Nation’s Capitol.” For more information about this event, click here.
