What are your weekend plans?

Here at Indian Country Today Media Network, we like a little pow wow action in our weekends. We’ve put together a little list of some pow wows that are taking place this weekend all around the country. So if you’ve got some time on your hands for tasty food, lively music, vibrant dances and stunning art, these are the events for you.

7th Annual Hunting Moon (Gi Wse Gises) Pow Wow, Wisconsin

When & Where: October 21 – 23 at the Potawatomie Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Weekend festivities will be centralized around a number competitions and contestant will be offered more than $75,000 in prizes. New this year to the powwow dance competitions will be the enthusiastic Chicken Dance. For more information about this event, click here.

23rd Annual Meherrin Indian Pow Wow, North Carolina

When & Where: October 21 – 23 at the Meherrin Tribal Grounds in Ahoskie, North Carolina. With powwow MC, Keith Colston, leading the way, festivities will kick off promptly on Friday night at 7pm. Attendees will be able to observe all of the dance competitions while enjoying a special appearance from the Aztec Dancers and several traditional American Indian dishes. Spirit of the Harvest Powwow, Michigan

When & Where: October 22 at the Michigan Tech Campus Student Development Center – Multi-purpose room in Houghton, Michigan. Celebrating its 15th year, the Spirit of the Harvest Powwow will have two special presentations from world-renowned hoop dancer, Lane Jensen. For more information about this event, click here.
