PAWNEE, Okla. – The Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma received a $300,000 federal grant award through IHS for a Health Promotion and Disease Prevention project.
Over the course of the three year project period, the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention grant will decrease chronic health conditions and disease among Native American people by educating and promoting healthy lifestyle and behavior alternatives.
The Pawnee Nation will hire two new full-time staff employees, who will be responsible for leading health education and promotion efforts. Specifically, outreach activities will include physical fitness, nutrition education, substance abuse, tobacco prevention and cessation, and health awareness and information.
