Paragon hosts second annual Battle of the Bayou

MARKSVILLE, La. – The 2nd Annual Battle of the Bayou will feature strongmen from across the nation in competition at Paragon Casino Resort’s Mari Showroom Saturday, May 2 at 10 a.m. Advance adult tickets are $10 and $5 for children 12 and under. Day of show tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Tickets may be purchased at Paragon’s Cypress Knees Gift Shop or through Ticketmaster. The Louisiana Strongman Challenge will benefit the Acadiana Muscular Dystrophy Association and is sanctioned by the North American Strongman Association and is being promoted by the Louisiana Strength Foundation.

A free exhibition of the Max Log Overhead Press will be held in Paragon’s Hotel atrium Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, ticketholders will witness some amazing feats of strength during the fierce competition. Events will kick off at 10 a.m. with the Tractor Tire Squat, followed by the Overhead Stone Press Medley at 11:30 a.m., the Vertical Lift at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Car Dead Lift at 2:30 p.m. with the Stone Load at 3:30 p.m. These are just a few of the astounding events spectators will see.

Travis Ortmayer will serve as the special guest announcer. Travis placed 5th in the World’s Strongest Man Competition in 2008. The event at Paragon is platinum level which can be a state championship or equal quality featuring a minimum of 30 competitors. The top three winners in each weight class or division offered at the contest will also be invited to a NASM contest.
