Offensive place names targeted

Geographic names that could be offensive to Native American and other ethnic groups will be reviewed for change, and Gov. Mike Rounds chose five people Friday to make sure such a review occurs. The South Dakota Board on Geographic Names was created by the 2009 Legislature. It will meet at least once a year, and its recommendations will be passed to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, part of the U.S. Geological Survey, for change.
