CASPER, Wyo. (AP) ? A Northern Arapaho tribal leader is among the latest to seek office in the Statehouse. Ben Ridgley, of Ethete, said he plans to pursue the Democratic nomination in House District 33.

The district covers western Fremont County including Burris, Crowheart, Fort Washakie, Ethete, Arapahoe, Hudson and much of the Wind River Indian Reservation. The district has a 65 percent Native American population.

Ridgley, co-chairman of the Northern Arapaho Business Council, said he wants to create a better understanding between state and tribal governments. He also said he would push for a full-time Indian affairs office in Cheyenne.

'We live in the Equality State and it's time Wyoming lives up to that standard,' he said. 'As a legislator, I will continue to work with the youth of the reservation, who are our future, and with our elders, who are the wisdom of our tribe.'
