“The tribal nations, many of them live in places where the federal government thought they would disappear, that they would not survive. Those nations have survived,” said Jefferson Keel, president of the National Congress of American Indians in this arriving video to the 68th annual NCAI convention in Portland, Oregon. “So it’s important that we remember that and we remind the federal government of its federal trust relationship and responsibility to the Indian nations that they signed treaties with.”
Keel went on to speak about the importance of NCAI and it’s efforts to get tribal nations to work together for the betterment of Indian country.
