National Center For Family Literacy honors Gwendolyn Paul


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ? The National Center for Family Literacy honored Pima educator Gwendolyn Paul of Coolidge, Ariz. as the 2002 Toyota Family Literacy Teacher of the Year at its 11th annual conference held here.

Paul is a children's family literacy educator at Blackwater Community School in Coolidge. A fluent speaker of the O'odham language, Paul incorporates Akimel O'odham language into the Family and Child Education Program. With more than 23 years of experience in education, Paul has dedicated the last eight to family literacy. The award comes with a $5,000 gift to her program from Toyota.
