Celebrated musician Shawnee Talbot, (Mohawk, Six Nations Grande River) has just announced a casting call stating she is looking for 10-15 year old First Nations dancer for her newest video 'Warrior Heart.' The dancer must be available to shoot in Toronto on June 3rd and the audition takes place May 15th.

According to Talbot, "Modern dance as well as traditional dance experience is a plus, and the part is paid work."

"The song is not out yet," Talbot told ICMN, "But the song will come out at the same time as the video on June 19th. It's been a long time in the making. I am also excited to work with youth. It is important for me to feature our Native youth and our culture through dancing." As ICMN has previously reported in last year's "The 2016 50 Faces of Indian Country" magazine of which Talbot was one of 50 notables featured in the magazine, Shawnee Talbot is a singer/songwriter whose hard work and powerful voice have enabled her to perform across Canada and the U.S., and appear on Disney TV, Canadian Idol, and the Glass Tigers Canadian tour, where she shared the stage with Lady GaGa, Roxette, and Tegan and Sara. [text_ad] Talbot, who openly identifies as Two Spirit, tackled issues related to that in her single and video Mirror Me, which speaks to the struggle of self-identity. It has played on radio stations across North America, and was used on several TV shows, including Mohawk Girls. The official video was added to the popular Canadian music site Much Music, and hit number one on the Aboriginal Music Countdown in 2013. After releasing the single Canadian Cry in 2015, which addresses the Canadian government’s accountability for all the murdered and missing aboriginal women in Canada, Talbot performed the song on the Indspire Awards. Talbot says she is looking forward to her new video Warrior Heart. "This is my second video but the first time we are doing something like this," she said.
